Life Skills
This teaches them everything about anything. From the time when Dinosaurs roamed the earth, to the water cycle of nature & keeping the environment safe. They get introduces to these themes on a weekly babis, & do art projects in connection to the theme.
Every week we have a different theme except during the holidays!
Expanding their knowledge to every litlle piece of our world, will help in the future. They learn about history, medicine and various other things that even the teachers find interesting!
Knowing a little bit of everything is never a bad thing...
Literacy
"a_b_c_d_e_f_g..."Who does not remember learning the Abc song by heart?
All of our children know it & with the help of our friends from Letterland they learn in a fun way!
"a for Annie Apple, f for Fire Fighter Fred, m for Muching Mike", etc. These are easy names for them to remember & it practices the pronounciation.
We practise on a daily basis the sound that every letter makes; what is the correct way to make the sound & how do we pronounce it in a word.
This is very important, for it will help them in the future when reading aloud, where the correct pronounciation is key.
Numeracy
"1_2_3_4_5_once I caught a fish alive..." thats right; NUMBERS! Here they get introuced to the numbers 1 - 20.
These numbers are counted, written & recodnised on a daily basis. Being able to count, write & recodnise will come very handy in the future.
When they start doing addition and subtraction sums, they will rely on what they know to complete it. Some teachers use numbers in the sums, where others like to use pictures (that have to be counted).
Numbers are very important, we use them every day even if we don't always notice that they are there...
